The Asbury Park Music Foundation is pleased to once again host the Mockingbird Concert Series, featuring original music from Asbury Park with support from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, OTG and Owen’s Craft Mixers. As a follow-up to last year’s successful 20-date series, this year’s showcase will run again in the summer of 2019 and feature musicians from the booming Asbury Park music scene. The shows in Newark Liberty International Airport run Thursdays and Fridays from 5pm to 7pm through the end of August. Travelers can find these shows on the CBGB L.A.B. stage in United Airlines Terminal C, near gate 123.

The series also features a generous $20,000 donation from Tito’s Handmade Vodka to support youth music education. Their contribution last year helped fund after-school programs at Our Lady of Mount Carmel grade school, an innovative new Genre-Buster program blending musical styles and a new Drumline program at the Asbury Park High School.

Music lovers are finding their way to Asbury Park to take in live music every night of the week. Diverse music styles fill the venues, bars, outdoor parks and the boardwalk itself in this small city by the sea. The musical history of Asbury Park dates back to the late 1800s with a notable period in the 1970s that launched Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny and Steven Van Zandt among others. The city experienced decades of hard times with high crime and vacant buildings, but the music never left. The city’s recent economic resurgence has put Asbury Park music back on the map with over 300 bands calling the city their home base.

This series features primarily singer-songwriters and solo/duos from bands to fit the toned-down setting of the CBGB L.A.B. restaurant. Travelers can enjoy the music while eating, catching a drink or even passing by the restaurant. Upon paying their bill using OTG’s tablet-based flo® tech, guests can easily add a donation to APMF that will go toward the Foundation’s Music Saved My Life youth education programs.

This summer’s line-up includes the following artists whose music is also featured on the APMF website (https://asburyparkmusiclives.org/titos) and a Spotify playlist (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ugvcdCb6fPYNFId2pPcaB).

Travelers passing through Terminal C when the music is not playing can stop by CBGB L.A.B. to check out the autograph wall on the column behind the stage. This features autographs from the Asbury Park artists from last year as well as those adding their names this year.
