Summer Concert Series
We have something for everyone with our three free concert series that run throughout the summer with Music Mondays at Springwood Park (diverse music on Mondays), Cookman Avenue Live! (features local talent of all ages on Fridays and Sundays) and Asbury Park Concert Band (big band music on Thursdays). Additional details are in the sections below and on the Events Section of our website.
Special Donor Events
We run unique, intimate events to educate interested individuals about the music foundation while, of course, featuring live music and great people. Please contact us at info@apmusicfoundation.org if you are considering becoming a donor and would like to be invited to one of these events (some of which are not announced to the public).
Sundays on St. John’s
Due to overwhelming demand and popularity, we will be returning in 2021 with our acoustic, outdoor series held on Asbury’s hidden gem, St. John’s Island, in the middle of Sunset Park. This series was created in the Fall of 2020 to support our musicians and to keep the youth programs going in the wake of the pandemic and the loss of substantial funding. Each show was socially distanced and sold out quickly.
Music Mondays in Springwood Park kicked off its 6th season on June 28, 2021 with Dorian Parreott’s Jazz Quintet followed by Layonne Holmes and Motor City Revue and run through Tuesday, August 31st with Sensational Soul Cruisers from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The series features diverse musical styles with a broad appeal to all of the Asbury Park community. Springwood Park is located on Asbury Park’s west side, about 3 blocks from the train station. Thanks to our 2021 sponsors who through their generosity are bringing free, live music to all residents of Asbury Park and beyond.
Celebrating its’ 76th season, the Asbury Park Concert Band performs every Thursday evening at 7:00PM in Bradley Park across from Convention Hall. The band offers a varied musical selection from marches, classical, jazz, dixieland, opera, and big band to Broadway. Several concerts each year feature students from Monmouth County schools who perform along with the professional musicians. These popular shows provide students from middle to high school age a chance to fine tune their skills and experience performing in a professional setting. Donations to support this program are appreciated.
