February 25: Asbury Park Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball
This second annual event to benefit APMF features Marc Stone 3 (from New Orleans and the VooDUDES at the House of Independents. Wear your masks and join the custom contest. February 25: Asbury Park Mardi Gras – Free Daytime Events
The fun starts early with events from 1:00 to 5:00 before the Masquerade Ball. Pick up your free mask at Backward Glances (658 Cookman Ave) and visit the businesses downtown for free decorations to apply to your mask. Contest for best mask for adults and kids will be selected at 5:15. Fee face painting and music from the Lakehouse Academy’s Music Saved My Life program.
March 24: A Night of Jazz and Blues
This fundraiser will benefit Mr. Gladstone Trott, one of the Jersey Shore’s most respected musicians, to help support his medical bills. Over 20 local jazz and blues musicians will celebrate Gladstone’s 45-year musical career with tributes and jam sessions. Among those scheduled to perform are Dorian Perreott, Jimmy Givens, Mark Cohn, Bobby Boyd, Altha Morton, John Morton and many others (watch our Facebook posts for updates). Showtime is 8pm at the Asbury Park Music Foundation on Lake Ave. Donations are $15 per person ($25 per couple) and should be mailed to APMF, 375 Park Avenue, Freehold, NJ 07728.
April 19 – 23: Asbury Park Music in Film Festival
The third annual APMFF to benefit the Asbury Park Music Foundation will feature an incredible lineup of Preservation Hall Jazz Band (4/23), Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (4/22) and Robert Randolph and the Family Band (4/21). Host your show at the new Asbury Park Music Foundation at 621 Lake Avenue (first floor). Shows can hold roughly 100 people and includes basic audio support. An excellent space for concerts, video or photography shoots and even meetings or private events.
