It’s called The River Tour 2016 and it’s coming to Newark.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will play Sunday, Jan 31 at the city’s Prudential Center, according to brucespringsteen.net.
Tickets, the prices of which have not been released, go on sale Friday, Dec. 11 through Ticketmaster, according to www.prucenter.com. The show is part of the nine-week U.S. tour that include shows January 24 and 27 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and February 12 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. .
Springsteen released a box set treatment for his 1980 double album “The River” called “The Ties That Bind: The River Collection” on Friday, Dec. 4.
As the tour begins Saturday, Jan. 16 in Pittsburgh, that means there will be no Springsteen appearance at that day’s annual Light of Day Main Event at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, where the birthday of Light of Day founder Bob Benjamin is celebrated and Springsteen often performs unannounced.
Springsteen is scheduled to appear on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” on December 19. The last time the E Street Band played in concert together was May 18, 2014 at theMohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. to conclude the High Hopes tour. The band performed on the final episode of the Jon Stewart-hosted “The Daily Show” in August.
The lineup for the River Tour 2016 will be Springsteen; Roy Bittan on piano, synthesizer; Nils Lofgren, guitar, vocals; Patti Scialfa, guitar, vocals; Garry Tallent, bass; Stevie Van Zandt, guitar, vocals and Max Weinberg, drums with Soozie Tyrell, violin, guitar, vocals; Jake Clemons, saxophone and Charlie Giordano, keyboards, according to Springsteen’s representative.
